2019 Asset Management Technical Assistance Project

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has engaged AMO as a partner organization for the Municipal Asset Management Program to provide technical assistance to municipalities for improving their asset management systems that include developing policies, strategies and plans. Having an effective asset management system will strengthen the credibility of existing asset management plans and assist Council in making informed decisions.

This initiative is delivered through the Municipal Asset Management Program, which is delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada.

HOW IS AMO DELIVERING THE PROJECT?

AMO has entered into an Agreement with FCM and has engaged Asset Management Ontario (AMONTario) in this initiative. Our asset management technical assistance training covers the competences of Leadership and Governance, Data and Information, and Planning and Decision Making to engage all participating elected officials and staff from different service areas in addressing the common challenges municipalities face in asset management.

It’s a pilot project involving 17 municipalities across Ontario. We are adopting a cohort approach, wherein a group of municipalities with similar asset management maturity are learning and applying asset management concepts to their portfolio of assets.
