Buxton Road Improvements in Highlands East

More than half a kilometre of a well-travelled road in the Municipality of Highlands East has been improved thanks to investments from the Canada Community-Building Fund.

The Municipality invested more than $100,000 from the Fund into rehabilitating .64 kilometres of Buxton Road. Prior to the project, the original roadbed had deteriorated to the point that old logs were starting to stick up through the road, especially in a section of road that has wetlands on either side.

With the road serving a number of residents and as an access point to a nearby lake, it was essential to ensure the road was safe and drivable. Aside from fully resurfacing the road, the Municipality also focused on moving some culverts and ditching. This will allow water run-off to flow naturally back into the creeks and wetlands along the roadside.
