Elk Lake Museum Packs a Punch in the Township of James

The historic Elk Lake Museum is the community’s oldest structure – and its collection boasts items that really pack a punch.

As well as items dating back to the fur trading and mining periods of Elk Lake’s history, the museum is also home to pieces related to the Township's first Mayor, Jack Munroe. Mr. Munroe was a prospector and a decorated veteran of the First World War – and also a champion boxer. Elk Lake is the primary community in the Township of James.

Now the Township of James has invested CCBF funding to ensure the museum can be easily accessed by the whole community. A new ramp has been installed at the museum, providing a safe path for local residents and visitors alike.
