Pool in Thornlea Under Renovation

The City of Markham is restoring a much-loved indoor pool in the west end.

Markham is investing funding from the CCBF into rehabilitation of the Thornlea pool after it was shut down due to mechanical issues. The mechanical dehumidification unit needs to be replaced before the pool can be operational again.

The Thornlea pool attracts more than 45,000 visitors per year. It’s a community asset, providing accessible and well-regulated aquatic programming, and is a location that offers advanced lifeguarding and swim instructor courses.

In order to get the pool functioning, Markham is installing a new dehumidifier, and also making improvements to the pool building, including new bricking and concrete, a new roof, and rehabilitation of the pool where cracks or damage were located.
